Support the Texas Teacher Suspected of Atheism

Richard Mullins, a teacher in Texas for almost 40 years, has been suspended from his teaching job in Brookeland Texas based on suspicions of his atheism. Brookeland is a mere 16 miles from that bastion of progressivity, Jasper. So much for the materialist atheist bias, eh?

If you wish to help right this injustice, send an email to Brad@midsouthpeace.org.

Wow. This is really scary. I'm going to read that link again.

Tangobaby,

Yeah, we forget sometimes just how backwards some parts of the country still are. Hopefully sunlight will be its usual fine disinfectant.

I'll see what I can do to help out.

What do you think the chances are that Ben Stein wil rush to defend Mullins' academic freedom? Heh.

That is an excellent point Peter. It's important too for people to be clear on this: it's not that Stein's a hypocrite. The point is that his agenda is not what he says it is. He's not interested in academic freedom. None of the ID guys are. It's just the latest thing they've thought to say that might get them their way. They'd say the sky was purple if it would achieve their ends.

This seems over general to me. How do you know Steins stance on this specific situation? At least let him take a stance before you condemn him for it.

Jay were it most of humanity I'd agree with your sentiment. However, I'm not inclined to play this game with the ID crew. It's a con, and I'll treat it and them as nothing else until evidence surfaces that says otherwise. Stein rushing to this man's defense would be a good example, and I'd certainly take notice.
