Hawk vs Rabbit, and the value of randomness

If you have ever wondered about why flies, june bugs, and a host of other prey animals move in apparently erratic patterns, have a look at this video of a rabbit evading a hawk. Moving in a smooth predictable pattern means certain death from the much faster hawk. The rabbit's only chance is a series of moves that would make Barry Sanders proud. Evolution can create the strangest, most counterintuitive things.
